Edward Hopper

Benchmark score:
9.0

Edward Hopper was born on July 22, 1882, in Nyack, New York, and passed away on May 15, 1967. He was an American realist painter and printmaker, widely known for his oil paintings that often depicted solitude in American life. Hopper's works are characterized by their focus on the interplay of light and shadow, as well as their emotional depth. His most famous painting, "Nighthawks," has become an iconic representation of mid-20th-century American culture. Did you know? Edward Hopper initially wanted to become a naval architect but switched to studying art after a year at the New York School of Art. His early works were influenced by French impressionism, but he later developed his own unique style that has made him one of the most celebrated American artists. Midjourney recognizes the style, but we, as Edward Hopper's passionate lovers, miss the nuances and the play of light and shadow making his original works so admirable. Anyway, it's a 9/9 Midlibrary score!
