Eric William Ravilious (1903–1942) was a British painter, designer, book illustrator, and wood-engraver. His work is characterized by its intricate detail, often capturing the British landscape and wartime experiences. Ravilious was also a war artist during World War II, a role that ultimately led to his untimely death on September 2, 1942, during an air-sea rescue mission off the coast of Iceland.
