Morris Hirshfield

Benchmark score:
8.0

Morris Hirshfield (1872–1946) was a Polish-American painter known for his self-taught, naïve art style. Born in Poland, Hirshfield immigrated to the United States at a young age and initially worked in the garment industry, eventually owning a successful slipper manufacturing business. It wasn't until he retired in his late 50s that he took up painting, quickly gaining recognition for his unique approach to art. His works often feature symmetrical compositions, flat perspectives, and a focus on pattern and texture, drawing from his background in textiles. The Midlibrary score is 8/9 (-0.5 for Thom Yorke and -0.5 for missing Nazgul, though the sleeping town looks amazing!)
