Shepard Fairey (born February 15, 1970, in Charleston, South Carolina, USA) is an American contemporary street artist, graphic designer, activist, illustrator, and founder of OBEY Clothing. He first became known for his «André the Giant Has a Posse» (…OBEY…) sticker campaign while attending the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), which evolved into the OBEY Giant art project. This project, combining art and activism, propelled Fairey into the national spotlight. His work is often grounded in social and political commentary, blending elements of graffiti, pop art, and propaganda into visually striking and thought-provoking pieces. Did you know? Shepard Fairey gained international fame during the 2008 U.S. presidential election for his Barack Obama «Hope» poster, which became an iconic representation of the campaign. This is a great style for poster art, propaganda or something similar. The Midlibrary score is 9/9!
