Alvaro Castagnet is a contemporary Uruguayan watercolor painter known for his vibrant and expressive works that capture the essence of urban scenes and landscapes. Born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1954, Castagnet began his artistic career at an early age and later moved to Australia where he further developed his skills and gained recognition for his work. Castagnet's paintings are characterized by their bold use of color, dynamic compositions, and ability to convey the atmosphere and mood of a place. He often paints en plein air, working quickly to capture the fleeting light and movement of his subjects. Castagnet has received numerous awards for his work, including the prestigious Gold Medal at the American Watercolor Society and has been a member of the Australian Watercolour Institute. His work has been exhibited internationally and is held in private and public collections around the world. Castagnet is also a sought-after teacher and author, having published several books on watercolor painting and conducting workshops and demonstrations worldwide.
