Anders Zorn (1860–1920) was a Swedish painter, etcher, and sculptor, widely regarded as one of Sweden's foremost artists. Born in Mora, Sweden, Zorn studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts in Stockholm before embarking on international travels that took him to London, Paris, and the United States. He gained fame for his portraits, often of high-society figures, as well as his nudes and landscapes. His work was characterized by a masterful technique, particularly in the use of watercolors, and an ability to capture the character and mood of his subjects.
Zorn's artistic style evolved over his career, incorporating influences from Impressionism and Realism but always maintaining a distinct, individual approach. His skill in capturing light and texture is particularly notable in his water scenes and his famous "night paintings," which employ a limited palette to create atmospheric effects.
