Armand Guillaumin (1841–1927) was a French Impressionist painter and lithographer, best known for his landscapes and Parisian scenes. Born in Paris, Guillaumin was a close friend of Camille Pissarro and Paul Cézanne, with whom he studied at the Académie Suisse. He participated in the first Impressionist exhibition in 1874 and continued to be an active member of the Impressionist circle, exhibiting in several of their subsequent shows.
Guillaumin's work is characterized by its bold use of color and vigorous brushwork, capturing the natural beauty of the French countryside as well as the changing face of Paris during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His landscapes often feature the Creuse Valley, a region he frequently visited and found particularly inspiring.
