David Inshaw

David Inshaw is a British painter born on March 21, 1943, in Wednesfield, Staffordshire, England. He is known for his detailed and atmospheric landscapes, often imbued with a sense of mystery and narrative. Inshaw studied at Beckenham School of Art from 1959 to 1963 and later at the Royal Academy Schools from 1963 to 1966. He gained prominence as a member of the Brotherhood of Ruralists, a group of artists founded in 1975 that included Peter Blake and Graham Ovenden. 

One of Inshaw's most notable works is The Badminton Game (1972-73), which is held in the collection of the Tate Gallery. This painting exemplifies his meticulous attention to detail and his ability to create a sense of timelessness within his compositions. Inshaw's work often features the English countryside, capturing its changing moods and seasons with a unique blend of realism and romanticism.

Inshaw has exhibited widely throughout his career, including solo exhibitions at the Arnolfini Gallery in Bristol and the Royal West of England Academy. His work has been included in group exhibitions at institutions such as the Royal Academy of Arts and the Hayward Gallery. Inshaw's paintings are held in numerous public and private collections, including the British Council and the Arts Council of Great Britain.
