Dorothy Draper was an American interior designer known for her bold and innovative approach to interior design, particularly during the mid-20th century. She founded the first interior design company in the United States, Dorothy Draper & Company, Inc., in 1925. Draper's design philosophy was characterized by the use of vibrant colors, large-scale patterns, and a blend of traditional and modern elements, often referred to as "Modern Baroque." Notable projects include the redesign of the Greenbrier Hotel in West Virginia and the Carlyle Hotel in New York City.
