About

Etel Adnan is a Lebanese-American poet, essayist, and visual artist known for her vibrant abstract landscapes. Her work often explores themes of nature, identity, and the interplay between color and form, drawing inspiration from her diverse cultural background and the landscapes of the Mediterranean.

Observations

Across all four works, landscapes are reduced to broad, angular landforms and horizon bands in highly saturated pinks, oranges, blues, greens, and yellows. Clean-edged color fields are combined with visible painted texture and simplified, graphic silhouettes, giving the series a bold illustrative character while retaining the physical feel of applied paint.
