About
Mark Rothko was an American painter known for his contributions to abstract expressionism, particularly through his color field paintings. Born in 1903 in Latvia, Rothko emigrated to the United States, where he developed his signature style characterized by large, luminous rectangles of color. His work is celebrated for its emotional depth and meditative qualities, often evoking a profound sense of introspection.
Observations
Across all four renders, the style uses large geometric color fields arranged in a rigid grid, with recurring rectangular panels and strong horizontal and vertical divisions. Saturated reds and oranges are layered with deep near-black areas, while visible brush texture, softened transitions, and rough edges keep the geometry painterly rather than mechanically flat.
