About
Matthew Pillsbury is an acclaimed photographer known for his evocative black and white images that explore themes of time and motion. His work often captures the essence of urban life, using long exposure techniques to create ghostly, dreamlike scenes that convey a sense of movement and transience.
Observations
The style uses stark black-and-white realism with dramatic architectural interiors, deep shadows, bright shafts of light, and highly detailed surfaces. Long-exposure motion blur turns crowds into translucent, ghostlike forms, creating cinematic, dark, atmospheric scenes with reflective floors and monumental spaces.
