Observations
The style uses richly textured, softly blended oil-paint surfaces with delicate brushwork, subdued jewel-toned backgrounds, and carefully modeled pale faces. Formal portrait compositions combine ornate historical clothing, powdered hair, flowers, fruit, and birds with an uncanny, dreamlike elegance.
