Andreas Franke is a contemporary Austrian photographer and artist known for his unique underwater art exhibitions. With a career spanning over two decades, Franke has worked in advertising and commercial photography, but he gained international recognition for his underwater series that combines photography with sunken shipwrecks.
Franke's underwater projects involve photographing shipwrecks and then superimposing images of people and everyday scenes onto them, creating surreal and hauntingly beautiful compositions. These images are then displayed underwater on the very wrecks they depict, allowing divers to experience the art in its intended context. The blending of the underwater world with human narratives gives Franke's work a distinctive and ethereal quality.
