Black Lagoon

About

Black Lagoon is a Japanese manga series created by Rei Hiroe. It follows a group of pirate mercenaries known as the Lagoon Company, who smuggle goods in and around the seas of Southeast Asia. The series is known for its action-packed storyline and diverse cast of characters, blending elements of crime, adventure, and dark humor.

Observations

The style uses highly detailed, expressive comic illustration with bold ink-like contours, sharply rendered facial features, and dense textural shading on hair, clothing, weapons, and creatures. Strong color blocking and high contrast combine vivid orange, teal, and red accents with heavy dark areas across tightly cropped character portraits.
