About

Collodion print is a photographic process that was widely used in the mid-19th century. It involves coating a glass plate with a mixture of collodion and a light-sensitive silver nitrate solution, then exposing it in a camera while still wet. This technique was known for producing images with fine detail and a distinctive tonal range, often resulting in a soft, ethereal quality.

Observations

A monochrome photographic style combines intimate, tightly framed portraits with a stark tree-filled landscape, using deep blacks, bright highlights, and directional backlighting. Fine grain, shallow focus, weathered print edges, and restrained cinematic compositions give the images an archival, brooding character.
