About

Karl Schmidt-Rottluff was a German painter and printmaker, known for his role in the Expressionist movement and as a founding member of the artist group Die Brücke. His work is characterized by bold colors, distorted forms, and emotional intensity, often exploring themes of modernity and human experience.

Observations

Across all four renders, the style combines forceful black contouring and angular simplification with visibly broad, energetic paint strokes. Saturated reds, oranges, blues, and deep greens are set against strong dark-light contrasts, depicting expressive faces, figures, landscapes, and built environments with a rough, tactile painted surface.
