About
Katsushika Hokusai was a renowned Japanese artist and printmaker, best known for his woodblock print series "Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji," which includes the iconic "The Great Wave off Kanagawa." His work played a significant role in popularizing the ukiyo-e genre during the Edo period, and his influence extends beyond Japan, impacting Western art movements such as Impressionism.
Observations
Across all four renders, the style uses crisp, outlined shapes and flat, selectively layered color, with dense fine-line detailing in the waves, clouds, mountains, and boats. Repeated sweeping wave forms create strong geometric diagonals and kinetic motion, while the restrained blue, cream, and peach palette and high contrast give the landscapes a decorative printed character.
