About

Knolling is a method of arranging related objects in parallel or 90-degree angles as a method of organization. It originated in the 1980s when janitor Andrew Kromelow at Frank Gehry ’s furniture fabrication shop arranged tools at right angles for ease of use, coining the term after Knoll furniture's clean lines.

Observations

Across all four renders, the style uses realistic top-down still-life arrangements with many carefully separated objects, repeated vertical and horizontal alignments, and generous background space. Muted earthy palettes, soft directional shadows, and tactile materials such as wood, metal, paper, leather, stone, and ceramic give the collections a curated archival or museum-display character.
