About
Max Bill was a Swiss architect, artist, painter, typeface designer, industrial designer, and graphic designer. He was a proponent of the Concrete Art movement, which emphasized geometric abstraction and the use of mathematical principles in art. Bill's work is characterized by its clean lines, precise forms, and a harmonious balance of colors and shapes, reflecting his background in the Bauhaus school and his commitment to modernist principles.
Observations
The style uses sharply defined geometric forms, especially squares, rectangles, triangles, and faceted cube-like structures, with clean graphic edges and broad areas of unmodulated color. Saturated primary and secondary hues are set against black and generous white grounds, producing a bold, minimalist, high-contrast visual language across all four compositions.
