Observations

These illustrations combine fine, scratchy ink drawing with translucent watercolor washes, dense textural hatching, and expressive caricatural faces and bodies. The restrained blue-gray, brown, and red palette contrasts with mostly white grounds, while recurring human-animal figures and theatrical situations give the images a darkly satirical narrative character.
