Michael Graves

About

Michael Graves was an influential American architect and designer, known for his contributions to postmodern architecture. He was a key figure in the New York Five, a group of architects who championed modernist principles. Graves's work is characterized by its playful use of color, historical references, and a blend of classical and modern elements.

Observations

The style uses crisp, geometric architecture rendered with clean illustrative edges, flat saturated color, and strong sunlight-shadow contrast. Across the scenes, ordinary buildings are transformed into surreal architectural constructions with impossible stairways, cutaway interiors, dramatic clouds, and vividly colored urban or coastal settings.
