About
Muybridge sequence is a series of photographic motion studies created by Eadweard Muybridge in the late 19th century. These sequences captured the movement of humans and animals in a series of still images, which were groundbreaking in the study of motion and laid the groundwork for the development of motion pictures.
Observations
The style combines stark monochrome imagery with repeated sequential poses, presenting riders, horses, and walkers in orderly panel grids. Strong silhouettes, hard tonal separation, visible grain, aged paper, and ruled divisions give the work the character of an archival motion study or vintage printed contact sheet.
