About
Nicola Samori is an Italian contemporary artist known for his haunting and evocative paintings that often explore themes of decay and transformation. His work is characterized by a unique blend of classical techniques and modern sensibilities, drawing inspiration from Baroque art and contemporary expressionism.
Observations
Across all four portraits, faces and upper bodies emerge from near-black grounds through layered, visibly directional brushwork. Muted charcoal, umber, blue-gray, and chalky white create a somber atmosphere, while sweeping paint obscures the eyes and partially dissolves the figures into expressive, surreal forms.
