About

Rick McKee is a contemporary illustrator known for his humorous and detailed cartoon style. His work often features exaggerated characters and whimsical scenes, drawing inspiration from fantasy and folklore.

Observations

The style uses energetic editorial-cartoon drawing with heavy black contours, expressive caricatured faces, dense crosshatching, and selectively flat areas of muted yet forceful color. Figures and political tableaux are arranged in dramatic, crowded scenes, with exaggerated anatomy, gestural poses, and recurring red, blue, cream, and grey tones creating a vivid high-contrast graphic look.
