About

Sara Riches is an illustrator known for her intricate and emotive portraiture that blends elements of fantasy and surrealism. Her work often explores themes of nature and mythology, creating a unique and introspective visual narrative.

Observations

The style combines finely drawn ink contours with visible watercolor-like washes, translucent shading, and textured paper, giving the portraits a handmade, painterly character. Repeated close-up figures, animals, loose strands, and partially unfinished outlines create an expressive, dreamlike collage with restrained cream, ochre, gray, and rust-red tones.
