Scraperboard art is a technique involving a board coated with a layer of white clay and a layer of black ink, which is then scraped away to reveal the white underneath, creating detailed and intricate images. This method allows for precise control over line and texture, often resulting in highly detailed and contrast-rich artworks.

Observations

Across all four panels, animal close-ups are rendered in stark black and white with dense, hand-drawn directional hatching and etched-looking fine lines. Deep black grounds and sharply isolated pale marks create a dramatic, graphic effect while emphasizing eyes, feathers, scales, fur, and facial contours.
