About

The Secret of Kells is an animated film inspired by Irish mythology and the creation of the Book of Kells , a famous illuminated manuscript. The film combines historical and fantastical elements, weaving a story around a young boy's journey to complete the sacred book amidst Viking invasions.

Observations

The style combines highly detailed, illustrative character drawing with dense ornamental environments filled with carved wood, manuscript-like markings, and intricate linework. Saturated amber, orange, green, and teal hues are pushed by strong contrast and localized firelight, creating an expressive, fantastical storybook atmosphere.
