Subgenre of Punk art
b.
–
Cyberpunk is a subgenre of science fiction that explores the intersection of technology and society, particularly in dystopian, near-future worlds. The style often features advanced technologies such as cybernetic implants, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence and explores themes of corporate greed, social decay, and individual empowerment. Notable visual features include an emphasis on neon lights, dark, rainy cityscapes, and a blend of high-tech and low-life elements. Cyberpunk emerged in the 1980s and is often associated with the work of authors such as William Gibson and Bruce Sterling.
Interesting fact: The iconic film Blade Runner is considered a defining example of the cyberpunk aesthetic.
