About

Franz Marc was a German painter and printmaker, a key figure in the German Expressionist movement and a founding member of Der Blaue Reiter group. Known for his vivid use of color and abstract forms, Marc often depicted animals, believing they were more spiritual and pure than humans. His work is characterized by bold colors and dynamic compositions, reflecting his interest in spirituality and the natural world.

Observations

Across all four renders, recognizable figures and faces dissolve into overlapping angular forms, while vigorous, visible brushwork gives the surfaces a tactile painted character. Saturated reds, blues, greens, and oranges, strong dark contours, and compressed diagonals create an intense, expressive, dreamlike style.
