About
Jon Carling is an illustrator known for his distinctive style that blends elements of surrealism and dark fantasy. His work often features intricate linework and whimsical, yet eerie characters that evoke a sense of mystery and wonder.
Observations
Across all four renders, the style uses highly detailed black-ink illustration with fine, scratchy lines, crosshatching, and dense dark animal forms against pale paper-like backgrounds. Surreal encounters between tiny human figures and oversized woodland creatures create a stark, storybook atmosphere, with small red accents appearing against the otherwise monochrome scenes.
