About

Intaglio print is a technique of printmaking where the image is incised into a surface, and the incised line or sunken area holds the ink. It was widely used in the 15th century and became a significant method for creating detailed and expressive artworks, often involving techniques such as etching, engraving, and aquatint.

Observations

Across all four images, the style uses monochrome black ink on warm cream paper, with finely drawn contours, dense hatching, and etched or engraved textures. Subjects are isolated like print studies with generous margins and occasional strong black grounds, combining botanical and anatomical imagery with highly legible linear detail.
