About
Mark Grotjahn is an American artist known for his abstract and geometric paintings, often characterized by bold colors and intricate patterns. His work frequently explores themes of symmetry and optical illusion, drawing inspiration from both modernist and contemporary art movements.
Observations
The style uses brightly colored geometric wedges radiating from central points, with strong bilateral or radial organization across every composition. Thick, visibly built-up paint and scraped, directional strokes give the flat graphic structures a tactile, handmade surface.
