About
Monotype print is a unique form of printmaking that involves creating a single impression from a prepared plate. Unlike other printmaking techniques, monotype prints are known for their spontaneity and the ability to produce one-of-a-kind artworks. The process typically involves painting or drawing on a smooth surface, such as glass or metal, and then transferring the image onto paper. This method allows for a wide range of textures and effects, making each print distinct.
Observations
Across all four prints, saturated orange, red, yellow, navy, and black forms are arranged as graphic abstract compositions with strong contrast. Broad gestural strokes, scraped textures, irregular ink coverage, bold linear marks, and layered geometric blocks give the work a tactile handmade print character.
