About

Jillian Tamaki is a Canadian illustrator and cartoonist known for her work in graphic novels and comics. She has collaborated on several acclaimed projects, including 'Skim' and 'This One Summer ,' which have received numerous awards and recognition for their storytelling and artistic style.

Observations

The style uses dense ink-like linework, fine hatching, and heavy dark contours to build closely cropped portraits and feline figures. Strong black, cream, coral-red, and pink contrasts create a vivid illustrative surface, with floral backdrops and uncanny character combinations giving the images a surreal, dreamlike quality.
